Snow Report 3-13
Someone turned the freezer back on - woo hoo! It's a chill 23° F at Sunrise and expected to top out at near 33° F with a bit of a breeze out of the southwest at 11mph. Snow accumulations so far are 3" to 4" and intermittent showers are expected through the day. We will update the totals for ya later today. Looks like this system should push through in the overnight hours and Saturday is calling for plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid 40s making it a perfect bluebird day :-)
Been seeing snow in the forecast for midweek next week also. Will know more about that as the system approaches.
While our stoke level has gone way up for the wintery refresh, we must take some safety precautions. Heavy rainfall earlier this week has saturated the deep snow on Cyclone, creating unstable layers and imminent danger on those deeper trails. (Some of you already saw the "Wet Avalanche" video we included in yesterday's updated snow report... it's intense!)
Note, as of March 12 9am: Due to recent heavy rains Cyclone Mountain is closed. Wet avalanche conditions exist. Wet sloughs occurred Wednesday and ski conditions there are extremely dangerous. Therefore the Snow Cat Shuttle will be accessing Apache Peak only until further notice.
The Spring Fever Rail Jam has been cancelled.
The Lucky Leprechaun Look-Alike Contest and the End of the Rainbow Scavenger Hunt are still game on! Someone will be going home with a new 2020/21 Season Pass!
